Health and Human Performance: Licensure

Information regarding the Health and Human Performance Program

Trainer working on athlete.

Athletic Training, M.S.

Students in the Professional Master of Science Degree in Athletic Training program have the opportunity to obtain clinical skills in NCAA Division I and II intercollegiate athletics, high school athletics, general medical, and semi-professional and professional sports. The Athletic Training, M.S. program prepares students to enter the profession of athletic training by passing the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) examination after completion of this degree.

Texas State University makes every effort to ensure state licensure or certification information is current; however, state requirements may change. While a program may originally meet the educational requirements for licensure, changes in requirements could impact the program's ability to meet any new educational requirements.

Prospective and current students should keep in mind that licensing and authorization requirements vary by state and that relocating during the course of a program to another state could impact whether that student can continue in the program. If students are considering relocating, they should contact their program director to check for authorization and licensure eligibility requirements.

For more information on professional licensure requirements in the field, please contact Dr. Carla Heffner, Graduate Advisor, at ch37@txstate.edu or 512-245-6338.
