About the Course

The course provides a comprehensive exploration of the psychological processes underlying language learning and use, with a focus on practical applications in educational settings. This course is ideal for educators, linguists, and professionals interested in understanding how language functions as both a cognitive and social phenomenon. By examining the works of prominent scholars like Robert Sapolsky and David Crystal, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how language is acquired, processed, and influenced by psychological factors.

Throughout the course, students will engage with key topics such as prosody and emotiveness, the creation of new language constructions, and the stages of child language acquisition. The course also delves into the psychological aspects of language, exploring how grammar functions as a cognitive tool, and how language attitudes and decision-making are shaped by cultural and autobiographical factors. Participants will learn how to apply these theoretical concepts to enhance language teaching and learning in the classroom.
