Ethics and Society

CRN 80060

Study of ethics, its recent focus on social problems, and new fields of inquiry, including environmental ethics, ethics in business, professions, technology and sport. Also such global issues as poverty, minority rights, and stem cell research. Emphasis on development and application of principles of critical thinking and moral reasoning.

3 Credit Hours. 3 Lecture Contact Hours. 0 Lab Contact Hours.

This course has an enrollment period of six months.

Course Information

  • Structure:
    • 10 Modules
    • Required work: readings, 10 lesson assignments, 10 lesson quizzes
    • Students in this course may not submit an assignment before any previously submitted assignment has been graded and returned. Students may submit no more than two assignments each week.
  • Required Materials
    • This course can be completed without purchasing additional course materials such as books or online subscriptions.
    • Students are required to watch multiple videos.
      • Videos will always have a free option.
      •  For some videos, the course provides multiple options, some of which can only be accessed through services like Amazon Video and Netflix.
  • Technical Requirements:
    • Access to Canvas
    • Browser capable of viewing videos on YouTube / Amazon.com / Netflix
    • Software to produce documents in some format other than .pages (acceptable formats include .odf, .doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt, .pdf, etc.)
