Continuing Education offers a wide range of highly interactive courses that will bolster your career readiness.  These fully online courses are affordable, convenient, and geared just for you.

Our courses target key job skills sought by employers, and especially those in the Austin-San Antonio area.  Admission to the university is not required to enroll.

Career Training and Certification Programs

Texas State University Continuing Education offers hundreds of online non-credit career training programs as well as personal and professional skill development courses that you can take anytime, anywhere.

These advanced courses offer a flexible way to learn and prepare for a new career or advance in your current job.  Start anytime to learn new skills for in-demand occupations and prepare for Nationally Recognized Certifications. Work at your own pace, get support from a dedicated Student Advisor, and complete in 3 to 6 months or up to a year.   Earn a certificate of completion and, when applicable, a voucher to sit for the certification exam.  Topics include business, healthcare, construction, language, and more.

These open enrollment, synchronous and asynchronous industry certifications are designed to provide the skills necessary to acquire professional level positions for many in-demand occupations. Programs are designed by a team of professionals from each respective field, who work to provide the most effective web-based learning experience available today. Instructors/mentors are actively involved in your online learning experience. They will respond to any questions or concerns, as well as encourage and motivate you to succeed.

Each program includes a set of lessons and evaluations. Grades are a combination of the instructor/mentor's evaluation of students' work and computer-graded tests. We know you'll appreciate the quality as well as the convenience of any time, anywhere learning!

How these programs work:

  • Start your program when you want and work at your own pace
  • Most online coursework is designed to be completed in 6 months
  • An instructor is assigned to each student to provide one-on-one assistance
  • A certificate is awarded for scores of 70% or higher

Texas State University Continuing Education offers a wide range of short, affordable non-credit online courses for individuals looking to build critical job skills or pursue a new hobby.  They are also ideal options for employers looking to provide employee training. 

How these programs work:

  • Two flexible ways to learn, our instructor-led courses start monthly and allow students to study and interact with a cohort over a six-week schedule.
  • For the independent learner, our self-paced courses provide access to all lessons immediately with up to three months to complete.  Topics include art and design, business, hospitality, computer applications, test prep, writing, and more.
